Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Animator Malta ("we", "us", "our"), based in Malta. We are committed to protecting your personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Maltese Data Protection Act (Chapter 586 of the Laws of Malta).

• Contact for privacy matters: animator.malta@gmail.com

We are the data controller responsible for your personal data and for this website (animatormalta.com).

2. How we collect your data

We collect personal data when you:

• complete a booking or enquiry form on our website;
• contact us by email, phone, or social media (Facebook, Instagram);
• communicate with us while planning or attending an event;
• browse the website — limited technical data is collected automatically (see Section 14).

3. What data we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and run your event:

• Contact details — your name, email address and, if you provide it, phone number.
• Event details — date, location/venue, type of celebration, number and ages of children, and any notes or special requirements you share (for example allergies, access or venue restrictions).
• Communications — messages you send us by form, email or social media.
• Technical data — basic information your browser sends automatically (such as IP address and device/browser type) and, where used, cookies/analytics data (see Section 14).

We do not intentionally collect special-category data (such as health information) except where you choose to disclose it — for example a child's allergy or medical condition — so that we can deliver the event safely. Where you share such data, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent and, in an emergency, to protect someone's vital interests (GDPR Articles 9(2)(a) and 9(2)(c)).

4. How we use your data & our legal basis

You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time (see Section 10). We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers ("processors") who help us run the business, under contracts that require them to protect your data:

• Our booking, CRM & form platform — which stores enquiries and helps us manage communication.
• Website hosting & infrastructure providers — to deliver and secure the website.
• Email and messaging providers we use to reply to you.
• Payment providers — to process payments (see Section 6).
• Medical or emergency services — in a medical emergency at an event, we may share relevant information (such as a known allergy or condition) with medical professionals or emergency responders to protect a child's or guest's safety.
• Professional advisers (accountant, legal) and public authorities, where required by law.

6. Payments

Payments are usually made by bank transfer. Where card or online payments are used, they are handled by secure third-party payment providers. We do not collect or store your full card or bank-card details on our own systems.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision) are in place to protect your data.

8. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and booking data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, plus any period required by law (for example, accounting and tax records are kept for the period required under Maltese law). Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Have inaccurate data corrected;
• Have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
• Restrict or object to our processing;
• Receive your data in a portable format;
• Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing done before withdrawal).

To exercise any of these, email animator.malta@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free, although we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse clearly unfounded or excessive requests, as permitted by law.

10. Marketing & unsubscribing

We only send marketing messages if you opted in. Every marketing message includes an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can also opt out any time by emailing us. We do not spam, and we only reach out when there is something genuinely worth your attention.

11. Children's data

Our services are arranged by and for adults (parents, guardians, event organisers). We do not knowingly collect data directly from children. Any information about children (such as ages or allergies) is provided by the booking adult, who confirms they have the authority to share it, to help us deliver the event safely.

12. Social media & external links

When you interact with us on Facebook or Instagram, those platforms process your data under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Our website may contain links to, or embedded content from, third parties (such as booking widgets, maps or social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party services.

13. Reviews & testimonials

With your permission, we may publish your feedback, review or photos from your event on our website or social media. You can ask us to remove a testimonial or image at any time by emailing us.

14. Cookies & analytics

The website uses essential cookies/local storage needed for it to function (for example, remembering your day/night theme choice). We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit the site, which pages they open and which campaign brought them; it sets its own cookies and stores usage data on Google's servers. Embedded third-party tools (booking widgets, maps, social embeds) may set their own cookies too. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking some may affect how the site works.

15. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.

17. Complaints

If you have a concern, please contact us first and we'll do our best to resolve it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Maltese supervisory authority, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) — idpc.org.mt.
